Why does this matter? Harry Potter is the flagship - and only profitable - franchise of Rowling. While in the initial stages there was crediable questions about how much of JKR's trans beliefs were motivated by disgust/hate, these have fallen away over the last few years. She funded legislation pushes in the UK, the EU and USA to bar transgender people from numerous non controversal access such as medical help, the ability to change their name, adoption rights, immigration access and being considered functional adults who are allowed to make their own choices - this on top of more "controversal" subjects such as bathroom access, minors getting puberty blockers, surgery access for adults, etc. While obvious, JKR has said that every dollar she recieves in royalties from Harry Potter is being used to fund this fight. Buying and promoting Harry Potter paraphernalia is actively helping harm trans people. Additionally, there have been multiple times that JKR has stated that "Every (Harry Potter Fan) proves that (her opinions) are mainstream". But Death of the Author This one should be obvious but: JKR isn't dead and is still profiting from the sales of Harry Potter, should she perish soon maybe we can have a longer discussion about this. Also Death of the Author is about literary analysis and not a carte blanch to champion a product. But what about the devs? Any/all developers and people who worked on this got their cut for this game long ago. They aren't benefitting from you playing the game, only JKR and Warner Brothers get cuts from sales - plus stores like Steam or GoG. This is not a "Go Harass (Vtuber)" call out. It's a "Hey, this is why this matters. No, its not harmless. Yes, it's inherently political. Yes, you do deserve critque of your actions if you do this."
On the Korone playing Harry Potter thing:
