Continuing the karate training intensively, Yumi decided to make his little brother pass a difficult test consisting of pulverizing a wooden dummy like Daniel LaRusso had to do in Karate kid 3, Hiroki must not hold back his blows and go all out as if his life was in danger leaving him no choice to survive, which will allow him to evaluate his level of endurance and resistance by being able to break the legs, torso and head of the dummy without suffering. Yumi demonstrated on the first dummy where she had no difficulty in breaking the legs, the torso and the head by adopting the proper posture, extreme concentration and finally the kiai cry intended to contract the abdominal muscles and to put more force in the given blow. To have seen his elder sister able to break this pile of wood without suffering with such a power scared him a little while showing that it is necessary not to threaten his life at the risk of suffering the consequences and also the necessary motivation to succeed in this hard test. For the last weekend of the 2007 summer holidays, Hiroki decided to perfect his kyokushinkai karate fighting techniques with Yumi in order to go further in his initiation and not to rest on his laurels after having successfully passed the tests for the passage of rank supervised by Akiko and Takeho on August 31, This was also a good way for Yumi to finish the holidays in beauty after having welcomed Aelita during the first two weeks of July and then from mid-July to the beginning of August to stay on the island. July to the beginning of August to stay on the Hokkaido's island and to finish a week in Alsace during the third week of August while being an excellent initiative to start her new life more calm and quiet after 2 years and 8 months of war against XANA in company of her friends which ended in the tragic death of the father of Aelita who sacrificed himself to annihilate the evil A.I. Yumi and Hiroki used to train on average 5 times a week for 2 hours during the evening in goju-ryu or shotokan karate in order to deepen their training in fighting techniques, application/mastery of katas, development of flexibility as well as the discipline and spirituality of the Far Eastern philosophy. With his older sister who is a 3rd dan black belt in this style as well as in karate kyokushinkai, wado-ryu, tai-jitsu, goju-ryu and shotokan, 2nd dan in kung-fu and ninjutsu, the young boy is in very good hands and also knows that he must not overestimate his abilities by being arrogant and pretentious otherwise it will cause him to make technical mistakes and defeats.

During the weekend of June 6-7 2009, Ulrich asked Yumi to help him prepare for his upcoming graduation where he will take his 1st dan black belt in goju-ryu karate by being evaluated by Akiko and Takeho Ishiyama on Sunday June 27 who will be testing him in the basement of their martial arts training residence. Yumi also took the opportunity to review important basics for her 4th dan when she was evaluated by her parents on two years The training lasted 95 minutes and was particularly intense as the samurai asked his girlfriend not to go easy on him and she went almost as hard as JCVD's training by his sensei during the Bloodsport training montage.

Having made much progress since the Translation on the Mountain Replika through the training of her best friend, Aelita successfully passed the grade passing tests under the supervision of Yumi's parents and was worthy to receive the blue belt during the after in the room dedicated to martial arts training of their house. Determined to do honor to Ishiyama who granted her this great privilege to go to the next level in wado-ryu karate when she only started at the beginning of the third week of October 2004 (beginning of the war against XANA), Aelita continues to train hard with Yumi while remaining very serious and focused knowing that she will integrate a dojo back to school and that her training take a new turn for which she will have to change strategy for combat techniques face her partners karatekas during battle simulations who will await her.

Having decided to fight like in a martial arts tournament, Aelita asked Yumi not to hold back her blows and push her to deploy her most formidable/effective techniques in order to assess her skills and know up to what level she has progressed since the war against XANA and especially during the Translation mission on the dam where she had to fight in karate with her friend a colossus xanatified. This will enable her to know if at the end of her two weeks of holidays with the Ishiyama, she will be able to pass to the rank of blue belt by the parents of Yumi having been martial arts instructors in Japan. So far, Yumi has never felt the need to train her girlfriend as if she were participating in a karate tournament to avoid hurting her involuntarily knowing that she is a 3rd dan black belt in wado-ryu karate, tai-jitsu, shotokan, goju-ryu, kyokushinkai, 2nd dan in kung-fu, judo and ninjutsu, which gives her a huge advantage as well as a way to hit where it hurts to send to hospital if she doesn't control her strength. However, she knows how important it is for Aelita since she experienced this situation during her early childhood in Japan as well as in her adopted country where she had to be evaluated by her parents as well as other members of her family specialize in a specific martial art only through her martial arts instructors.
