The painting Nevermore (2014) by artist Anselm Kiefer. It's a view of a chaotic and heavily textured field of wheatstalks, in shades of green, yellow and beige. At the top of the painting, you can see a flock of black ravens starting to descend from above, like attack planes. The thing you can't really get from the photo is that the painting is massive (it's about 3 metres high and 7 metres long), so it's quite immersive when you stand in front of it.
The painting Poppy Field (1890) by Vincent Van Gogh. As the name suggests, it shows a field full of red poppies, with a row of trees visible in the distance and a stripe of blue sky at the top.
While the Victoria line was still functioning pre-tube strike, I went to the #KieferVanGogh exhibition at the Royal Academy today. Great if you like Anselm Kiefer, which I do: the works on show are massive and immersive. Plus the Van Gogh stuff includes his lovely Poppy Field, which was new to me.
