The #MongolEmpire/#MongolHorde won the #BattleOfTheSitRiver against forces mainly from #VladimirSuzdal, a successor state of the disintegrating #KievanRus, on #ThisDayInHistory in 1238. This ended the last organized resistance and set up two centuries of Mongol rule in Russia.

#Ukraine is not #Russia.
It has its own #history.
#KievanRus was a multinational union, an early medieval empire formed of principalities, whose vast territory was ruled by several rulers. The center of this empire was #Kiev, the capital of present-day Ukraine, not #Moscow.
