Our research found that nearly half of in-work #KinshipCarers left employment when they took on the care of a relative or friend's child, and 8 in 10 of them have never returned to paid work. A lack of statutory paid leave is pushing them into poverty and the benefits sytem unnecessarily.
Ahead of the government's review of the parental leave system, we @kinshipcharity.bsky.social have published a new paper building the case for a new right to statutory paid employment leave for #KinshipCarers. Do take a look!

Today I marched with #KinshipCarers on the Treasury to call for financial support that reflects the cost of stepping in to look after a child when parents are not able to. It was great to meet and speak to kinship carers from across the UK and understand more about what they do
