...what #senryu had become, known as a throwaway genre, not worthy of serious study etc. with all those previous verses being called #kyoku (crazy worthless verses) and now 'Ko-senryu' (old senryu). Kenkabo wanted to change the perception and reputation of #senryu.

while all the serious Japanese poets wrote #tanka (called #waka), #haiku, or #kanshi (free verse poetry). Eventually during this devolving of the genre, those 'worthless' pieces were soon called #kyoku or 'crazy verses' (verses that had no meaning or merit but were worthless).
