Good to see more people will be protected from #LCWRA rate cut in #UniversalCredit from April (legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2026/113/…). But changes will still bring hardship legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2026/113/��, incl shocking drops in income for some families with disabled children reaching adulthood

Our “long term” rental is for 6 months then becomes 1 month rolling.

I wonder if we’d be considered desirable tenants and get a good reference if we do that. Finding anywhere at all is a nightmare; #UniversalCredit rent element doesn’t come near even with #LCWRA. I’ll politely raise it again.

As of April 2026, new claimants of #LCWRA will be receiving almost HALF of the current standard amount.

This is to "remove the incentive of signing themselves off".

To be clear: the current standard amount is £423.27 a month. Average rent a month is £1300.

In black text it says - behind the effort is the redeployment of £1,000 existing Job centre staff who will provide voluntary help to people on Universal Credit with no requirement to look for work or engage with job help because of their condition - the first national offer of help for this group. The work coaches known as pathways to work advisors are based in every job centre in England Scotland and wales - fullfling the commitment in March to ramp up efforts to get more people into work. With a target to help 65,000 people with Limited Capability for Work and Work related activity by the end of this financial year
