There seems to be some confusion, so to clear things up: #LeeSangIl is a japanese film director and screenwriter of Zainichi Korean descent, the third largest ethnic minority group in Japan. His first project, Chong, was a medium-length film about the lives of 3rd generation Koreans living in Japan.
The film #Kokuho has been officially selected as Japan's entry for Best International Feature Film at 2026 Academy Awards.
Based on the novel Kokuho by #YoshidaShuichi and adapted for the screen by scriptwriter #OkuderaSatoko. The project was helmed by Director #LeeSangIl.
