Famed #Mexican painter #DiegoRivera was born on #ThisDayInHistory in 1886. A dedicated #communist and #Trotskyist, he was expelled from the party during the #Stalin years. He hosted #LeonTrotsky at his home along with his wife #FridaKahlo. His murals are all over #MexicoCity.
On #ThisDayInHistory in 1927, #LeonTrotsky was formally expelled from the #CommunistParty. He had been a towering figure in the #RussianRevolution and early #USSR, and removing him cleared the way for #JosefStalin to consolidate power. Trotsky was assassinated in Mexico in 1940.
