Very happy to know the correct term.
A favourite activity of mine - especially on a cold dull morning 😊
Rainer Maria Rilke (born Dec. 4, 1875, in then Prague, Bohemia, Austria-Hungary [now in Czech Republic] — died Dec 29, 1926, in Valmont, Switzerland). Rilke was an Austrian-German poet who became internationally famous with his lyric poems and such works as Duino Elegies (1923) and Sonnets to Orpheus (1923). Rilkes poetry is characterized by a profound sensitivity to the subtle nuances of language. He explored themes of love, loss, faith, and the nature of existence..
Lament Everything is far and long gone by. I think that the star glittering above me has been dead for a million years. I think there were tears in the car I heard pass and something terrible was said. A clock has stopped striking in the house across the road… When did it start?… I would like to step out of my heart an go walking beneath the enormous sky. I would like to pray. And surely of all the stars that perished long ago, one still exists. I think that I know which one it is— which one, at the end of its beam in the sky, stands like a white city… 🔹🔸🔹 Rilke is so🤍- - this man...knows how to write. i wonder, what would it be like to "step out" of one's soul? ..to wander beneath the sky? ..to see that "white city" in this heavenly poem..♡

Some of 𝘙𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘳 𝘔𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘢 𝘙𝘪𝘭𝘬𝘦 ‘s books and published works that i had the privilege and pleasure to read.🤍📖 Rainer Maria Rilke's best quote for me is… ⇩⇩⇩ “The purpose of life is to be defeated by greater and greater things. Perhaps all the dragons of our lives are princesses who are only waiting to see us once beautiful and brave. Let life happen to you. Believe me: life is in the right, always.” —- from his book of poetry “Letters to a Young Poet” 📖

One of Jack London’s iconic portrait in vintage sepia tone, with his equally iconic and famous quote: “I would rather be ashes than dust! I would rather that my spark should burn out in a brilliant blaze than it should be stifled by dry-rot. I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom of me in magnificent glow, than a sleepy and permanent planet. The function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days trying to prolong them. I shall use my time.” —— Jack London’s Credo, The Bulletin, San Francisco, California, December 2, 1916 Source via: Artofmanliness.com Penned by Brett and Kate McKay • December 5, 2021
Jack London with his young daughters Bess (left) and Joan (right) sat on his lap in this 1921 photo in black and white.
Jack London looking stern and was caught off-guard. An Outdoor scene; probably in his own home by the garden— behind him a tree and some greens/plants. He’s photographed sideways, both arms resting on a wooden garden table; holding a pen in his right hand — likely at work writing ✍️ when the photo was taken. Lotsa papers 📃 atop the table- - - stock piled of papers of his own manuscripts 📑 at the time most probably. He was in casuals wearing a pair of jeans and a seemed to be checkered long-sleeved shirt so the ambience looked very homey. Photograph is in vintage black & white or more like sepia tone of that era, Jack London looked to be in his early 30s here judging from his hair.. no other details about the photo. But another famous long quote of him was attached on top of the picture. 📷 via : ctto
“The ghostly winter silence had given way to the great spring murmur of awakening life.” — Jack London, The Call of the Wild - page 178 A personal favorite from Jack London! Very timely.. it depicts our current season now— the harsh of WINTER, quickly turning into a new life of SPRING. Kinda sounded like from every slumber, there will always be a hope coming after..。
