A6 1/2: Encountering Moore’s idea made me think different about #literacies and censorship. I was thinking of uncensoring as the antidote to censoring, but Moore suggests this misrecognizes the stakes. She pushed me to consider the underlying problem rather than the symptoms and to focus on place
A5: this makes sense to me as I think of the way Black people have been constrained spatially within the literal geographies of St. Louis by acts/systems of oppression (redlining, racial covenants, urban renewal). Access to resources are a big part of this spatial hoarding/oppression. #literacies
A6: Another wonderful q! It makes me wonder about censorship as barrier-building, a closing in or cordoning off. It builds states, yet it separates. If my work is to push against the clandestine and shameful formative spaces of my past, my work must orient toward a logic of liberation. #literacies
Q6: Moore (2013) explains that censorship is “primarily a geopolitical technology—an instrument of place making...[and] is about state making, not subject making.” If censoring #literacies is about placemaking, how are you approaching the resistant political project of building places of liberation?

Yes! It's important to name that this hyperindividualism is also associated with the system of whiteness as well. #literacies
A5: I imagine one way we would be positioned to think differently would be through the intentional decentralization of self. Culturally, more connective ways of being and doing #literacies would prompt collective moves toward equity and away from neoliberal notions
I love this example! It's totally different than how I was thinking about the question, and I love how the place becomes a literal actor personified here. #literacies
