An absolutely precious #littlemimicat sitting on the very corner of the deck railing intently watching...something in the back yard, November 2020. She was 17 years old but navigated the walk as if she walked on the pavement.

I used first just the magenta soft pastel, letting the screen pattern from the paper mold carry the pastel, then adding a bright blue sketchy outline for definition and a bit of shadow. That was just enough.

I ended up pulling a color of pencil that I felt fit the moment, and for Mimi on this day, it was burgundy. I like that too—I think the dark warm color holds the sketch really well.
