Today’s #lunchties are a new twist on the tried and true Ozarks fly pattern: the emu crackleback. The first one is tied big for detail on a size 10 hook but I’m going to go down to 16 as those seem to work best at the trout parks. The second is size 14.

A Stewart black spider wet fly. Size 14 hook, brown UTC 70 denier, starling feather. The trick is to twist the fragile starling feather around the tying thread and then wrap. This reinforces the feather. The scruffier the better.

Today’s #lunchties if you see a pattern, yes I love wet flies. Tenkara for upstream pinpoint drifts and manipulation; and trout Spey for downstream swinging. The same flies work well for both applications.
