Yes, actually! I think Vern will see Mae as a fresh opportunity to take someone under her wing and I think Mae will appreciate Vern for being a helpful (and maybe motherly) figure. But there would certainly be a falling out once Mae finds out the truth.

probably in the minority here but yeah.
