An illustration in black ink and pencil of Malo from the Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess. Done in September of 2025. Malo is a chubby cheeked toddler dressed in what i assume is the style of a samurai? He wears a flowing gown with a body wrap and a simple shirt, arm bands, with his hair tied in a top knot. Malo is looking at the viewer with no expression, yet still exuding harsh judgement.

The old illustration of Malo, done in black ink and pencil. Drawn in i believe March of 2024. This one is simply Malo’s face. Back then I had two semi-related, incredibly bad notions on how to draw: 1. Stick with the first lines you make. I was so afraid that “wasting” lines would lead to overly complicated drawings, so i forced myself to commit to really weird decisions. 2. For some reason i didnt think i ever needed to measure out proportions? I would tell myself to eyeball it under the assumption that if it was way off i’d see that immediately. Cleary this was nonsense lol. I dont actually think this is the WORST thing i’ve ever drawn, but it’s a great example of these two bad mentalities coming together to create something straight out of the uncanny valley.
