small rectangular glass bottle with plain metal ribbed cap the tea leaves take up perhaps one quarter of the volume sitting on the leaves, an old handwritten paper label: "'Tea gathered on the/ shore at Dorchester Neck/ the morning after the destruction/ of three cargoes December/ 17' 1773. From/ Thaddeus Mason Harris D.D." On the reverse side is the inscription, "Rec'd from the American Antiquarian Society, March 1895 F.W. Putnam/ Part of a lot in [a] storage jar/ found at Ant. Soc. among other things/ See over."
