We’ve completed 60 stations! 3/5 of the planned network! #Mesonet site #60 was finished last week outside of Mansfield, WA, on the Waterville Plateau. This site concludes our 2025 construction campaign. #wawx
We completed #Mesonet site #59 last week in Poulsbo, WA! This is our sole location in Kitsap County. #wawx
#Mesonet site #58 was installed last week! It rounded out the far southeastern corner of Washington in Anatone, in the shadow of the Blue Mountains.
#Mesonet site #57 was completed yesterday in Dryden, WA! We’re sorting out the software right now and hope data will be flowing by next week! #wawx
We’ve put up the 56th #Mesonet site in Toledo, WA!
Wrapping up spring maintenance at the Seattle #Mesonet site this morning!
A picture of a weather station tripod, with a fence behind it, a guard rail just visible behind and below the fence, and a treeline in the distance. There is a big cell tower just left of the left of the center of the station coming from the treeline. The weather station has two rain gauges, one to the left of the tripod and one to the right of the tripod. There is a big silver box towards the middle right, with a white box mounted to the center pole to the left above the silver box. Above that is cell models, a radiation shield, a rectangular solar panel, a anamometer (wind speed/direction), and a pyranometer (solar radiation). A lightning rod sticks up from the middle of the top of the station.
An admittedly semi-blurry blurry picture of one of our #mesonet stations. This one was due for a temp/humidity probe change, which I did before taking this pic. It was chilly that day!
A picture of a deflated tire sitting on a white line in a parking lot. The bottom of the white truck is also visible. The tire is black and had reddish orange mud on it in the various depressed areas. There are leaves on the ground around the truck.
A close up photo of a tire tread. There is a circular hole towards the middle that looks as if something like a screw or nail went in at an angle and flew out. The tread of the tire is also cracked around the hole.
Speaking of #Mesonet stuff...my truck's tire blew on the way back Thursday from my sites that day. I had one more I was gonna do (and had decided to push to Thursday morning since it was close to home base before the tire blew), but that site is obv gonna wait till after Christmas to get done, lol.
Added the OK and a few other #mesonet accounts/folks to the Mesonet starter pack!!!

I was planning on going to my stations for Tuesday and Thursday but alas, the atmosphere has other ideas. It might be a wed/thurs set or just Thursday.
I was hoping to not do two days in a row bc I get up early but if needs must. If possible I would like to stay ahead, lol.

Nice to see them over here.. Get real-time observations from across Canada using the Canadian #Mesonet Portal and be sure to follow them here 👇🏻

A photo of the sunrise, with a layer of clouds of various shapes (some soft and fluffy, some long and fluffy, all are very soft looking) in the sky filling most of it aside from a small chunk just above the treeline, to the right side of the photo. The sun is casting a yellowish glow to the clouds closest and shining through the rest with a soft white glow. The treeline is dark.
The benefits of getting up early to get ahead of the oncoming rain to check on your #mesonet stations with your boss: beautiful sunrises. #wxsky #sunrise #wxphotography
I went on my first solo trip for our #mesonet Wed. Two of our soil moisture probes had gone offline (wires chewed on, wild animals) and I was heading to those stations to replace them. I got to the first one and not only had that probe been chewed on, the soil temp probes had been chewed. Sigh.
#TN and #NC, as you still recover from floods, remember that trump and #Project2025 plan to downsize NOAA & FEMA. TN Gov Lee TWICE denied $ for a #mesonet, a ground network of weather reporting stations most other states already have. May the odds be ever in your favor. #altnps #altnoaa #altgov
Also just gonna add this link to my one (at the moment) starter pack for #Mesonet folks! If you work with them at all, lemme know and I'll add you. I'm mainly aiming for people who actually maintain, use, etc them but it's not a hard rule, more a general guideline.

A picture of a big field, mostly green and some brown, with the sky above it. There is a small streak of blue in the left side, but the clouds cover most of it in flat, soft looking forms. The light shining through adds a layer of softness to all of the clouds, even the ones to the bottom that are darker. The picture is slightly tilted overall, with the right side of the ground being higher than the left.

A picture taken from the inside of a vehicle. The rear view mirror's bottom right corner is visible in the top left corner. The treeline is at the bottom of the photo. Above the treeline, matching it's outline, are thick, fluffy popcorn-like cumulus clouds. They have a lot of puffy texture, even smaller sections within are very textured, and they are white with gray shading.

Not only did Western University launch the Canadian Severe Storms Laboratory, they have now made publicly available a nationwide #Mesonet. 🙌
Still has improvements coming & bugs to workout but gone are the days of having to refer to the US NWS maps! 🥳
