This is probably the most dramatically lit of the five shots in this series. The primary subject of this photo is the white, pink, and yellow Calibrachoa flower (AKA Mini-Petunia) in the center of the photo. The top half of the flower and a few leaves are the only objects in the shot catching direct sunlight. The rest of the leaves and yellow and red blooms next to and behind the central flower are in deep shadow, and the spotlight effect is intense.

This photo of two Calibrachoa flowers was taken early in the morning. They are about halfway open, and they are in the shape of a five-pointed star. The smaller one on the left is yellow with red around the edges and at the crease in each petal where it folds to close up again in the evening. The larger of the two flowers is on the right, and it is pink with magenta edges around the yellow center of the flower. Under the flowers are small green leaves, other blossoms that have dried out, and one that has not yet opened.
