🇹🇿 When 28-year-old Asha Kombo Khamis from Ubago, Zanzibar, was struck by eclampsia, her life - and her baby’s - hung in the balance.
🚑 🌧️ Through floods & teamwork, #mmama made her emergency journey - and safe delivery - possible.

🏥 The service connects expectant mothers to life-saving care, and the 150,000th journey was taken by Lucy Mafwele to Tumbi Regional Hospital.

Hikmat's passion for #mmama extends beyond her own healthcare unit, having actively encouraged fellow health providers to embrace the system across Zanzibar.
She believes that: "Every nurse, maternity in-charge, and health facility should use this system."
Meet Hikmat, one of our #mmama champions. ❤️ As a Maternity Coordinator at the Fuoni Health Care Unit, she wasted no time implementing our m-mama system when it went live on the island of Unguja in 2022.
When Agnes experienced complications during labour, she found herself in a critical situation. She needed urgent medical care if she and her baby were to survive.
🚑 Thanks to the emergency transport provided by our m-mama programme in Tanzania, Agnes received the vital care she needed. #mmama
