A big pair of vintage 1940s 50s handmade sterling silver Constructivist modernist screwback earrings. Entirely handmade likely one of a kind pair of wearable art earrings! Very reminiscent of the designs of Margaret de Patta etc! A flat sterling triangle with a smaller pierced triangle to one side and oxidized black in the rest, and a single piece of wire that is applied on top of the triangle, then goes thru the triangular cut-out, and winds back around to start it all over again! A genius design, superbly crafted! The earrings measure 1.25" by 1" at fronts, and the pair weigh 5.4 grams total. Marked "Sterling" on the screwbacks as shown. No doubt originally sold in an art gallery or fair with accompanying paperwork or labeling that has been lost over the years. In any case, an exceptional pair of wearable art vintage modernist earrings! Excellent vintage condition.

A stylish pair of vintage 1950s 60s one of a kind handmade sterling silver Chinese modernist design screwback earrings by American studio metalsmith Peggy Miller. Entirely handmade hand fabricated from sterling silver sheet that has been cut out in two pieces. Below is a flat disk of sterling, and above is a cut-out shape that resembles a Chinese character. The lower disk has been partially oxidized (black) to make the upper section really 'pop' visually! Each earring measures just under 1" in diameter, and the pair weigh just over 10 grams total. Marked at backs as shown, "Peggy Miller", and "Sterling". Excellent vintage condition.

A large pair of vintage 1980s handmade sterling silver and stone inlay Native American modernist geometric design clip earrings most likely of Navajo origin. The earrings are shaped like boomerangs with a wide silver border at fronts around the geometric stone inlay with turquoise, mother of pearl, sugilite, malachite, lapis lazuli and spiny oyster shell. Really an encyclopedic use of the most favored inlay materials in Native American jewelry of the era! Each earring measures 1-5/8" long by 3/4" wide, and the pair weigh 16.7 grams total. Marked "Sterling" at back of one of them as shown. Likely originally sold in an art gallery or museum shop with maker information that has since been lost, but undeniably entirely handmade and of Native American origin. I purchased these at an estate sale here in Tucson with other Native American jewelry and objects. Excellent vintage condition.
