Unfortunately, they're not going to. I was part of the #MorePrideEmojis group that submitted proposals to Unicode for additional flags a few years back (including ace/aro). We were rejected and then they changed the rules to ban proposals for new flags outright.
Why is there no lesbian pride flag emoji?
#MorePrideEmojis
It's because Unicode, the keepers of the emojis, explictly have refused to add them. A group of us submitted proposals for bi, ace, and aro flags a few years back, but got rejected. Then Unicode *changed the rules* so that flag proposals are now forbidden entirely. #moreprideemojis
We definitely need #MorePrideEmojis and namely a #PanFlagEmoji, because πππ is nice, but it's notβ¦ a flag.
this is a comparison of the Bi flag and how Unicode wants us to make the bi flag
So according to Unicode to have a bi flag emoji we can just use already existing emoji combos??? #BiFlagEmoji #MorePrideEmojis
I submitted a formal proposal to the Unicode Emoji Subcommittee (the official emoji keepers) for an ace flag emoji twice, and it was rejected both times. Then they made a new rule to blanket reject all future flag proposals. They won't even consider them anymore. #moreprideemojis
Around the same time, I worked with #moreprideemojis to write formal proposals for additional pride emojis in the official Unicode RGI Emoji set.
All our proposals were rejected and as a side effect of our efforts, Unicode has instituted a blanket rejection of all flag-related proposals.
It's the year 2024, why don't we have a lesbian flag emoji yet? π Get on it Unicode. π§‘π€π©·

Agree. Itβs strange that thereβs a transgender flag, but no bi flag. There is a campaign to create one: moreprideemojis.com/flags/bisexu... #BiFlagEmoji #MorePrideEmojis π₯πͺπ¦
