Ears still ringing, And partially-sweated-off Admission stamp Still an unreadable smudge On wrist. The bass lines Still thump And pulse In my chest, And the smell Of sweaty excitement Lingers, After waking From the fever dream Of thrashing bodies And screaming vocals, Pressed into A single moving mass. The collective High, Not yet forgotten, Though ebbing With morning's insistence To return to the chaos That has not been chosen, And was shouted down With raised fists And screeching guitars. Being “of a certain age” and not wanting to have another hip replacement, I refrained from the pit, though had hands in it. The energy still reverberated in my ringing ears this morning.
