The name Clymene holds great significance in Greek mythology as a forename for princesses and a water nymph.

Some call it the “goth moth” for its coloring and upsidedown cross design.

The rosy maple is named for it's rosy color and maple because they lay eggs on maple trees.

Female moths give off pheromones which attract male moths to mate with - this is what inspired me to have my moth people be able to sense each other's pheromones.

The Flatwoods Monster (the other MC of Moth Woods) is known for having a strong, pungent odor, which is where I got the inspiration for Ollie to also like ramps.

The name Io comes from Greek mythology in which Io was a mortal lover of Zeus
Io's father was called Peiren in the Catalogue of Women, and by Acusilaus, possibly a son of the elder Argus, also known as Peiras, Peiranthus or Peirasus. Io may therefore be identical to Callithyia.

I found an article about gold swift moths that inspired me, which described them as "the Kamasutra moth" due to the variety of mating positions they do, as well as them mating in groups, unlike other moths. Basically a polyamorous moth!

Because of their short life, they are rare to see, despite being one of the most common moths in the Midwest USA!

Facts related to my book Moth Pit!

I fell in love with luna moths several years ago when I found one outside!

When I researched them, I thought it was tragic they only live 3 days once emerging from their cocoon, one of the shortest mating cycles in moths.
