It's World #MoveDisorder Day. The #neuroacanthocytosis syndromes are often accompanied by #chorea 👇 .
@movedisorder.bsky.social unites 12,000 clinicians, scientists & other HCPs dedicated to improving care for some of the most challenging disorders through #education and #research.
Today is World Movement Disorders Day! And @movedisorder.bsky.social would like to know: what moves you to advocate for this community?
#MoveDisorder
Did you know rare movement disorders are not that rare overall? They affect millions of people.
Help raise awareness about these and dozens of other underrecognized disorders this #MoveDisorder Day, November 29.
Kudos to Davide Fontanesi, Giulia Saccardin, Edoardo Monfrini, Barbara Garavaglia, Alessio Di Fonzo, and the entire team behind this work.

Were you at #MDSCongress2024 or were you unable to make it and wondering what went down? I shared my two cents on Movement Disorders Society #movedisorder Young Members Speed Networking event, it was our first trial & we'd love to hear your thoughts still🤗

on World Movement Disorders Day I claim my space to live free of stigma. The fact that I can still do the things I want is something I’m grateful for #MoveDisorder
I was very honored to talk on World Movement Disorders Day about how Tx of sialorrhea in Parkinson’s patients can reduce stigma at the inspiring Mov Dis Society endorsed Neurotoxins meeting in Naples organized by Marcello Esposito, @alfonsofasano.bsky.social and Francesca Morgante. #MoveDisorder
I end my research visits reminding people with #MoveDisorder that we all have a health issue. We had a global pandemic, so much horror happening all over, whose brain can actually stay "normal" these days?! Please don't let stigma further burden the people who live with diseases they never asked for
Here is part 2 👇with details about some of the movement disorders. There are also dozens of other rare, under-researched movement disorders.

Image of a brain and text stating "Movement disorders are neurological conditions that affect bodily motor control, disrupting an individual's life."
Text stating "Movement disorders affect much more than movement. Non-motor symptoms can range from constipation and sleep problems to hallucinations and memory loss."
Text stating "The prevalence of movement disorders increasing - and outpacing growth estimates. Parkinson's is now the fastest-growing brain disease."
Text stating "Parkinson's disease is likely caused by multiple factors, and diagnosis is a multi-step process. Early signs can seem unassuming, like stiffness, anxiety, smaller handwriting, or constipation."
Today is world #MoveDisorder day! In my PhD, we found impairments in numerical cognition for Parkinson's patients without cognitive impairment (multi-digit arithmetic) and with cognitive impairment ((non-) symbolic magnitude comparison), while transcoding and number line estimation were spared.
On Nov 29, we celebrate World Movement Disorders Day!
Movement disorders are complex neurological disorders, and we believe they require a tailored care approach that orbits around the patient.
