The #Antonov #An225 #Mriya is one of the most extraordinary #aircraft ever built. Developed by #AntonovDesignBureau in the 1980s, this massive, six-engine #TransportAircraft was created to support the #Soviet space programme and transport #Buran #spacecraft.

#Soviet strategic airlift #Antonov #An225 #Mriya first flew on #ThisDayInHistory in 1988. It was the largest aircraft in the world, capable of transporting a locomotive. The only completed 'plane was destroyed in the #BattleOfAntonovAirport in 2022. Ukraine is building a new one.
