Trilby activated it, I felt everything lurch and the Road started twisting under foot. It was several minutes before I had my stomach back. By then a horrific Doll Swarm was flowing out of the Mist and Darkness and onto the Road. Frog-Pockets used a Poppet Tamer Spell to quell the fray, but then an Aether Storm rolled over us, and all we could do was run. Now we are stuck on the Road with night falling fast. At least Sassun is a Fort Builder, otherwise we'd be as good as dead. I can hear something outside... breathing deep, ragged breaths. Sassun told us to be quiet, as any noise may break the Fort's veil. This whole thing has gone sideways, hard. Fortuna willing, the Fort will hold until dawn and we’ll live to see another day. If this is the last I write, please know I died doing what I love: travelling the Road with my Troupe and seeing the Wyrd.

This is a screenshot of a notes file. The text seen follows. Fade in... It seems the Road is in a surrealist mood today. It's lined by ranks of trees like set pieces, wood or cardboard cutouts with paper leaves, fading into Mist and Darkness. Overhead dark billowing clouds of fluff-over-plaster sway in front of a yellow circle with red ribbons flapping at its edges. The Road beneath your heels appears like smooth stone with painted lines that seem to represent cobblestones. Up ahead is a crooked signpost, it proclaims "Applewood Landing" and points to the left where a pitch black tunnel opening can be seen. From the Road behind you comes a frightful ruckus, a Swarm of Scarecrow burst into view. They emit a collective chorus of undulating wails. Their pursuit sends wave cold dread dancing over your gut and up your spine.

This wip is concept art for our game. The image shows a towering stump. One so big, part of it has been hollowed out and turned into a grand stage. The red curtains are raised and spotlights brighten the stage. An orchestra pit waits, empty, in front of this stage. Upon the stage are four figures, one at an upright piano, another stands behind a tall drum, while the other two sing and dance in a shower of magical sparkles. Two exits can be seen, one on either side of the stage. This stage is found in the Village of Everstead, a place many traveling performers call home in their off season. It is also a place of learning where young Wyrdlings go to learn how to be a performer and follow their dream of walking the Road. It is said enchanted acoustics allow someone speaking in a conversational tone at center stage, to be clearly heard 65 paces into the crowd.

In Everstead, just off Jupiter street, sits a field surrounding the Grand Stump. This legendary stage has been the off-season practice stage for generations of performers in the Wryd.

This WIP is a logo for Muses and Maenads, a Magickal Thinking TTRPG. While every Deva's hunt is different, many of them are a frightful and bloody affair. Every night, some Village in the Wyrd experiences, and is often wiped out by, a Wild Hunt.

Among the terrors of the Wyrd, the Wild Hunt is one of the greatest. Eventually, every Deva calls their Wild Hunt to some corner of the Wyrd. Death runs with the Hunt and the Deva will feast.

Barter Bag The barter bag, or barter box, is a term that refers to a collection of things the average Wyrdling has and uses to barter. This could be something the Wyrdling can make, or has collected. Knickknacks like spare buttons, pressed flowers, local herbs, stories, or similar “bits and bobs”. It also implicitly includes things the Wyrdling can do in trade, such as knife sharping, playing music, or baking cookies. When making a barter roll these are the things the Wyrdling will use/offer to get what they need.

In the Wyrd, the accumulation of material wealth can damage Wyrdlings leading to the Mortification. The practice of barter is widespread. Every Wyrdling carries a few spare and useful things they can barter with.

We found tables set for a meal, food in its place and only just starting to turn. We found no bodies, no blood, and nothing broken or disturbed. It’s almost as if they could show up at any moment. There’s a feeling here, a wrongness. Nell thought he could get some of the farm animals to talk to us, but they seem to have fled into the countryside. If left out there they'll go feral and forget how to speak. We can't let that happen to them so we are going to perform a more exhaustive search. As much as I want to help, I really hope we leave soon. This place gives me the heebie-jeebies!
