VecTron's Varieties of D&D / OSR VILLAIN ENCOUNTERS.
At a gaming table, a strikingly ugly DM is saying "Of course you can try and cast Fireball mid-monologue again! ... Does a 50 beat your AC?" To a woman whose defense is that she's just a little guy.
There is a cat on the table.
Variety 1:
Rat with a gun. (Gun is crossed out. Brackets say 'many thanks to TikTok for popularizing newspeak. Very Double-Plus-Ungood')
-Just a little dood in possession of a dangerous artifact
-great for one-shots
-either getting pulped, or adopted.
A rat curiously holds a gun.
(Say hello to Marshall, Joel Haver fans!)
Variety #2
The DMs least-favourite co-worker, possibly in a wizard's hat.
-Favoured among DMs that don't go to therapy.
-The players definitely won't hate them as much as the DM wants them to.
-Probably.going to die horribly, regardless of the players plans.
Image is a caricature of... Just some person. There's a bullet flying at them.
Variety #3
That 'cool' minifigure that your DM bought / printed last week.
"Did it fit the setting?"
"No."
"Were we even capable of damaging it?"
"... No."
"Was there *anything* we could have done to avoid it??"
"Now that you mention it... No."
"THEN WHY DID YOU RUN IT R.A.W?!!?
"It has abs AND tentacles man."
Image is a miniature monster figurine that looks like if Ursula from The Little Mermaid was a twink. Looks like something Reaper Miniatures would sell, but alas.
Varieties of villains I've seen DMs play in ttrpgs. #1/2
