Sometimes the paintings are just obliterated. With this one, I have an abstracted landscape composition in mind, so I put down the underpainting of the new composition. Once this dries I’ll begin the layers of the new piece.

I murder my darlings. However, my darlings are usually the side characters. The protagonists are usually safe, unless it’s a short horror story, in which case you’re guaranteed to be either dead or crazy by the end. :)

I’ve been on this fantasy short story several months. Ever since the darkness and shadow work restarted. This is never a good thing for the characters. But the muse is drawn to it like honey. This editing moment spurred more improvements.
