How about some orchids to brighten up your day? Not a rare species but Ophrys ferrum-equinum, or Horseshoe orchid, is definitely a beautiful one.
These were all taken in Greece on our spring botanical trips.

Good Morning Twitterverse! We’re starting our working week with another cracking butterfly photo. This one is an Amanda’s Blue from Greece a few years ago, once again ably photographed by a talented guest. #natureneedednow
This lovely landscape image was taken by a guest in the French Alps. We are currently imaginging what delights are waiting round the bend… #natureneedednow

The colours in nature never cease to amaze us. Take a look at these extraordinary Leaf Beetles from Poland which @OW_Photography took last year. #natureneedednow
Not everything we see on our tours is tiny - this Griffon Vulture was taken in the Picos de Europa by a guest. It has a wingspan of around 2.8m. By contrast, the Grass Jewel seen in Greece (📸 by @ahunterphotos) is the smallest in Europe with a wingspan of 1.5cm! #natureneedednow
What better way to end the working week than with a spectacular butterfly. Here is a Southern Festoon photographed by a guest last year while searching for the False Apollo. #natureneedednow
A stunning second generation Map butterfly is our choice for today’s post. This one was taken in Estonia by a guest a couple of years ago but its a species we see on a number of tours. #natureneedednow
Happy #wildflowerwednesday! Here’s a beautiful Campanula alpestris, a mountain specialist photographed by our guide @christofides_ in the French Alps. #natureneedednow
We came across this rather idyllic scene while sorting out some files. Taken in Crete last year by one of our guests, it shows fields full of flowers with Orchis italica looking particularly resplendent in the sun. #natureneedednow
Another butterfly shot because it’s Friday and we can... this time a beautiful Clouded Apollo and once again photographed by one of our many talented guests. #natureneedednow
The beautiful Balkan Goldenring dragonfly is such an impressive insect. This photo, taken by a guest in Bulgaria last year, shows their spectacular blue-green eyes and the golden rings round the body for which it’s named perfectly. #natureneedednow
Is anybody else dreaming of wandering through glorious wildflower meadows like this one or is it just us? #natureneedednow
We’re savouring every moment outside in the sunshine lately - here’s a Snake-eyed Lizard that appears to be doing the same! 📸 by @Matt_Greenwings in Rhodes. #natureneedednow
Happy Friday! Earlier this week we came across this wonderful image of a Lattice Brown taken by a guest in Greece way back in 2014 and we decided it was too lovely not to share. #natureneedednow
The working week is officially over in the UK, so we’re celebrating that Bank Holiday Weekend feeling with a photo of a Red Squirrel taken by our guide @JackPerksPhoto on Brownsea Island a couple of years ago. #natureneedednow
Wednesday’s pop of colour is brought to you by a European Bee-eater. These cheerful looking birds live up to their names well with as much as 90% of their diet consisting of bees. #natureneedednow
Another shot of sunshine to brighten your Tuesday; a Poplar Admiral photographed by one of our guests in Bulgaria last year. #natureneedednow
In case today hasn’t been gloriously sunny for you, here’s some in photo form. The beautiful Barbary Nut, Moraea sisyrinchium flowering among Yellow Crown Daisies in Cyprus two years ago. 📸 by @alexhydephoto #natureneedednow
Nothing beats a butterfly to brighten a Friday! This gorgeous Little Tiger Blue was photographed by one of our guides in Greece way back in 2013 but we think it’s just as brilliant now! #natureneedednow
Here is our contribution for day 2 of the @europebutterfly #AprilButterflyMonth and we are sharing 3 Large Tortoiseshell photos from various tour locations in recent years, including a nice bit of egg-laying behaviour taken by @martinswarren in Greece. #natureneedednow

@RealAleEagle took this lovely image of a British Swallowtail with us in the Norfolk Broads last summer. We couldn’t think of a nicer way to end the working week than with an image that summons to the mind hazy days filled with butterflies! #natureneedednow
Spring gathers pace outside and we could all use a moment to take it in. We can’t share it as much as we’d like to this year, but here’s a delightful Marsh Frog 🐸 photographed by a guest in La Brenne last summer. #natureneedednow
