Reflections on #NCA2024
I am excited to share that I have received the Outstanding Book Chapter Award from the National Communication Association's African American Communication and Culture Division/Black Caucus.

I was prompted to write this after an excellent book panel discussion on Woods’ book with colleagues at #NCA2024: @torinmonahan.bsky.social @bricolageyumyum.bsky.social, Joshua Reeves, Monica Reeves, and Greg Wise.
Had an amazing time at #NCA2024. Though, the best part was cheering on my MA advisee and three undergraduate students (!) as they presented at NCA for the very first time. I’m so proud of them 🥹🥹🥹
Had a great time presenting this project from #teamfluency at #NCA2024. You can read the full paper that finds code-mixing inhibited narrative engagement and increased out-group bias with recommendations to reduce these effects at Communication Research now!
