Riel advocated for cultural, language, and land rights for the Métis people while negotiating the Manitoba Act in 1870. Despite having a hand in a defining moment in Canadian history, it wasn’t until 2023 that Riel was officially recognized as Manitoba’s first Premier. 🇨🇦
