Measuring the Earnings Premium for Graduate Programs in OBBBA’s Accountability Scheme — PEER Center The One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA), signed into law last July, established the first-ever statutory framework to hold most higher education programs – including all graduate certificates and…

Following along with today's #negreg on #highered accountability? @jdmatsudaira.bsky.social has some technical advice for @usdeptofed.bsky.social about how to set the earnings threshold for graduate-level programs. www.peer-center.org/research/ear...

One thing is clear: OBBBA left major gaps in the accountability landscape, most egregiously by excluding undergraduate certificate programs. With #negreg starting next week, @usdeptofed.bsky.social should ensure that all programs face consequences for poor outcomes and wasted taxpayer $. 7/

As we talk about #NegReg and #PSLF remember my work quantitatively and from the mouths of borrowers shows that uncertainty is related to psychological distress, which connects with suicidal ideation.

Whew, Melissa on the #negreg virtual public hearing is going IN. (And is correct but of course they’re not going to listen to her and will put her down when her testimony is over.)

Listening to the #negreg virtual hearing and wondering, is it typical for ED to make editorial commentary (such as, paraphrasing, under the prior administration XYZ was broken…)?

Last week I provided public comment on behalf of the @legaldefensefund.bsky.social at the Department of Education's negotiated rulemaking session regarding proposed changes to the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program. This is a big issue that is under the radar. #ED #NegReg #PSLF

I know this is directing to the other site for the @thesbpc.bsky.social but this video is telling of the leftovers at the Department of Ed.

They basically told the #NegReg take the deal we've given your right now, or fuck you.

It's REALLY too bad I wasn't picked to be here.

Right now the #Trump admin is using a bullshit #NegReg process to "debate" and set rules for the President's intentions to cut what could be millions off #PSLF if the administration deems any organization as a threat or unamerican, or being accused of illegal activities (without proof of course).

Gave comments at today's #negreg hearing, asking the Dep't of Ed to protect PSLF and preserve affordable IDR options. Any attempts to implement Trump's PSLF EO are unlawful and targeted; proposals by ED (& Congress) to get rid of PAYE, ICR, and New IBR screw over borrowers who were promised options.

As things are not always public - I was having a hard time making a specific case about the wider impacts I've had.

I knew my work was cited in #NegReg conversations and circulated in #FSA, #CFPB, and #GAO but I had no idea how it was so widely used.

Not bad for a community college kickout.

These 5 Groups Could Be Denied Student Loan Forgiveness Under Trump Rules Advocates and legal experts have warned that Trump's attempts to restrict student loan forgiveness under PSLF may be illegal. But he might try, anyway.

Bet #Trump uses #NegReg to kick higher Ed faculty, staff, and admins from #PSLF benefits over false claims of antisemitism and Title IX violations (specifically related to Trans people).

Another lever with #FinAid to force institutions to terms.

Accreditors Keep Questioning the Need for Stronger Regulations. Here’s Why They Are Needed. Accreditors have criticized many of the U.S. Department of Education's proposed accreditation changes, despite these agencies' failures to protect students.

New, from me and Jeremy Bauer-Wolf
some of the negotiators at the current #NegReg table have constantly questioned why the regulations on accreditation need to be made stronger.
We wrote about just a few recent examples that should answer those questions.
