Post: They said, We never fought back. They lied. And eighteen three. Along the marshy coast of Georgia, a group of newly enslaved Igbo people from West Africa landed on St. Simons Island, chained but not conquered. As they stepped onto American soil, they saw the waters, the horizon, and the white traders who thought their spirits were broken. But the Igbo remembered who they were. They wrote, membered home, descendants of warriors, children of kings, carriers of resistance in their blood. Led by their chief, they rose up, overpowering their captors in a desperate bid for freedom. But what came next ? That's the part they erased. Faced with the choice between bondage and death, the Igbo walked into the waters, chanting, Water brought us the water will take us home. They drowned not in despair, but in defiance. They refuse to let their spirits be owned. They chose to see over the slave ship, and history tried to bury it. The story of Igbo landing was passed down in whispers, spirituals and Gullah folklore. It was the seed of something greater, a legacy they tried to erase but couldn't contain. It became a quiet blueprint for resistance, echoing through every uprising that came. After they told us we were born in chains, They never told us. We broke them that broke me. Follow, If this is the rebellion we should have learned, drop, hidden resistance in the comments, If this is your first time hearing, and if you're ready for the next untold uprising, we're producing it now.
