By the time I got to number 3, another anaesthetist (whom I didn't puke on this time) took a radical step in passing son to me first because I asked for it. It healed everything because it changed the way they did things locally. No rush, just patient centered care. #NHS70

And later, when I needed to have another giant, really-didn't-want-to-come-out baby, they talked me through that trauma. #NHS70

And then they looked after me, in a side room, while kind women came in the middle of the night to help me feed him. #NHS70

45 hours of midwife supported labour, 1 ambulance ride, 1 crashing foetal heart rate, 1 puke all over an anaesthetist, 3 attempts at spinal, 1 GA & CS later, my now 19yo was born. It was traumatic but my fellow citizens & I had already paid for it. Nobody died. #NHS70

Trained, employed and a grateful patient of the NHS. Big shout out to a Dr who indulged me in a game of eye spy to distract me from a cannula and nurses who laughed with me over nothing in particular as it was preferable to crying. #NHS70

Learning on #NHS70 : 1. men of a certain age get an abdominal aortic aneuryism test 2. It's one-off - get that far and you're OK 3. It's tested because a defect shows no symptoms 4. Mine's fine

My least-flattering selfie, taken about 2.5 yrs ago, and five hrs after collapsing on the street, splitting open my head and dislocating my shoulder. I was attended by 4 paramedics and had an emergency MRI before fully regaining consciousness, and no big bill. Thank you #NHS70
