My dear friend and James Beard chef, Charlie, called me one crisp fall day and said, "I'd like you to come shoot my butternut squash bisque." So, on my way, I took a scenic route, to gather some leaves and berries from trees around town, in order to really capture the feeling of fall in the shot. I was pretty happy with the results.
I photographed a series of dishes at 1862 David Walley's Restaurant and Saloon (a hot springs resort in northern Nevada). A table near the window, and a reflector, and I was very happy with the results of this lovely fish dish.
I'm not a huge fan of seared fish, but it sure does photograph well! Loved the colors and textures in this presentation of three pieces of seared ahi.
I was once told, "You can't photograph real food and make it look appetizing." I'm not the greatest food photographer out there, but I sure hope I've proven that to be untrue. And so today's passion: food photography. I love using natural light to capture the beauty of REAL food. #food #nogimmicks
