Utterly unsurprising. The AFL arrogantly ignored Tasmanian Aboriginal people in its push for an unwanted and unaffordable stadium in Hobart. @afl has no interest in heritage. Just after gaming and broadcast revenue. #nonewstadium

I’m waiting for unions in Tasmania to realise that their unwavering support for the government’s MacPoint stadium has helped smash the State’s budget, and cause the inevitable job losses they now complain about. Let’s be clear, there’s much, much more of this to come. And worse, too. #nonewstadium

Is it just me, or is this statement by Dean Harriss MLC a deluded belief:

“Mr Harriss said he believed the government's promised measures would help to address state debt, while attempting to accommodate more debt for the stadium.”

We couldn’t afford a stadium 2 years ago at a cost of $750m (++). We can’t afford it today at $1.13billion (++) and we won’t be able to afford it late next year when contracts are signed for maybe $1.5billion (++). And the ++ is in the order of at least $350m (that we know of). #nonewstadium
