The bridge’s name came from a nearby slaughterhouse, according to author Ed Barna.

Bridge Du Jour: Station CB in Northfield. Unlike the Upper and Lower Cox Brook CBs, it uses a town lattice truss and crosses the Dog River. Like the Upper and Lower Cox Brook CB, it was built in 1872 and is painted red.

Bridge Du Jour: the Upper Cox Brook Bridge in Northfield. The bridge was damaged during Hurricane Irene in 2011, but was repaired and remains in service today, along with its neighbor, the Lower Cox Brook Bridge.
