Arizona’s latest test results are in — and they’re not looking good.New numbers from the Arizona Department of Education show that statewide academic scores barely improved this year, and in some districts, they’re sliding backward.Only 33% of students passed math, and 40% passed English Language Arts (ELA) on the state’s spring 2024 assessments. Those numbers are nearly identical to last year — and far below pre-pandemic levels.Educators say many schools are still struggling to overcome years of lost learning. From 2015 to 2020, Arizona students were slowly improving, but when classes went remote during the pandemic, scores dropped fast — and haven’t fully recovered since.📉 Before 2020: steady progress each year📉 After 2021: major drop in both math and reading📉 2024: only a one-point gain in math — ELA flatDistricts like Higley Unified in the East Valley are showing signs of recovery, with 55% passing math and 61% passing English, but in Phoenix Elementary, only 19% passed math and 27% passed ELA.Teachers say improvement takes time — three to five years for most interventions to show real results — but families and educators across the state are growing frustrated.“We can’t judge kids by one test,” one Phoenix academic officer said, “but it does show how far we still have to go.”Arizona schools are trying new strategies, from parent-teacher task forces to redesigned curriculum plans. Still, many say it’s an uphill climb to get students back on track.Do you think Arizona schools are doing enough — or is it time for a bigger change in how we teach and test kids? 👀📚Via ABC15#DownInnaDesert #ArizonaNews #AZEducation #ArizonaSchools #PhoenixAZ #StateTesting #AZStudents #LocalNews #EducationCrisis #ArizonaUpdates #PublicSchools
