Every star maintains their appearance with a core inside them. Cores are full of energy and are needed for stars to keep their full forms. Stars don't have vital parts, but if their full form takes too much damage it disappears(temporarily). They can't move or speak as cores, making them defenseless. When stars lose their core forms, it'll come back after some time. But they are completely defenseless against dark matter until then. This is why defensive star angels(healers and shielders) are crucial to every team. Regular stars have less energy to attract dark matter, so incidents where they lose their core forms are rare. However they are more vulnerable than star angels and still need to be careful. If a star's core is lost to dark matter, there's no way to recover it. Stars that get sucked into dark matter in any form are effectively dead.
