So as I said, my YA fantasy #PiperNovel begins with 17yo Piper, daughter of a printer/bookbinder, rushing home carrying way too many parcels for her father.

But to write that scene, I needed to know what was in those parcels.

So my current #wip, which I will call my #PiperNovel to differentiate it from the one that’s gone to beta readers recently, is about the 17yo daughter of a printer/bookbinder.

I’ve been writing the opening scene for weeks.

I feel like I should start a thread of the #novelresearch I’ve been doing on the Edo Period & how I solved on of my pressing questions recently.

But I also worry it will be confusing/unhelpful. I write fantasy, & my worldbuilding is all based on the Edo Period. I’m not a historian.

Reading this classic for a few reasons:

1: I love mythology
2: it’s great research for my novel series
3: it’s a beautiful book with really nice cover and illustrations
4: It’s fun

The cool thing about doing #novelresearch is when you get a call from an Assistant Special Agent in Charge (ASAC) with the #Georgia Bureau of Investigation (#GBI), and you talk with him for hours about investigative techniques, terminology, inter-agency operations, and other cool stuff! #AmWriting
