A lone Ochre Sea Star waits amidst a colony of large mussels for the tide to return the water to Indian Beach at Ecola State Park on the Oregon Coast. Vertical color photograph: A colony of large blue-black mussels fills the entire frame. About 1/3rd of the way down from the top of the frame, just to camera right of the image center, a bright orange ochre sea star is visible where's partially tucked in amongst the mussels.

Ochre Sea Star, tide pool, Ecola State Park on the Oregon Coast. Vertical color photograph: In the center/ top middle right of the image, an orange ochre sea star appears to lounging against the rocks. It's top two arms are draped over the rocks to either side and the bottom third of the sea star is under water - it looks as it it's sitting in a hot tub. Interrupting the sea star's reflection below it, you can see a large, green aggregating anemone under the water. The crevice the sea star is chilling in starts at the upper right of the image, just above the rock the sea start is resting against, and comes down in the image at a diagonal, leading the eye back to the subject. Barnacles dot the surrounding black rocks, and green and brown help dot the crevice.
