The left upper corner of my laptop monitor shows an ASCII art image of Tux the Linux mascot followed by a large exclamation point. a cute indicator of big problems.

The screenshot shows the final steps to fix the kernel panic issue I had. I used Fedora's package manager to reinstall the kernel core after tracking down and removing the (closed source) driver that was causing the problem.
I was able to fix the kernel panic and I'm feeling a bit smug now -- quite different from when the Caps Lock key was flashing and I first saw the error messages #kernelpanic #thanksforthehelpDuckDuckGo #fuckedFedorafinallyfixed
