This study highlights how the degree of symplectitisation can be affected by the rock's heterogeneous permeability. Additionally, we found that the fracturing of #omphacite played a key role in their complete replacement by amphibole-plagioclase aggregates.

With just over six hours to go, #kyanite looks well on its way to making #omphacite fans blue in #MinCup24. Can a late “omphatic” rally boost Team Green? I’m on record as supporting Blue Beauty kyanite, but late finishes have been a thing in Mineral Cup this year, so I’m not counting anything out.

To me, #omphacite is fine, but the blue of #kyanite is hypnotically gorgeous, while telling the tale of deep crustal metamorphism. Vote Blue in #MinCup24!
I like #kyanite. It’s beautiful & speaks of mountain building. But there’s tons of it and it’s cheap. #Omphacite is incredibly rare, and speaks of subduction. Try finding outcrops of eclogite in California. They’re few, and that makes omphacite priceless in my book.

It’s omphacite for me! The blueschists in Jenner, California, are evidence that these rocks were once omphacite-bearing eclogites and fingerprints of the subduction zone that once existed here and has had a HUGE influence on California’s geology. Thanks, Bill!

Radiating from a center dark point the green of omphacite is startling, shifting subtly from dark to light throughout the piece it almost appears as an obsidian or maybe a jade but the creation of this is the high pressure subduction of Continental movement.
It's a crystalline form of omphacite, which I found today in a formation of incredibly beautiful tabular green Crystals that remind me a lot of dioptase in color but not in shape
