Sometimes you only get a minute or two with a leopard, but it’s a thrill every time. I spotted this one to my left walking toward the road. By the time we stopped and reversed, it crossed in front of us and disappeared into the bush.

As we were leaving a hide there was a large herd of female impala milling about. As a car drove slowly through, one impala decided she wanted to get ahead of some others and lept into the air. Not the best photo but I was happy to get it.

Today’s photos are not actually from Kruger. We visited the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Center, which rescues and rehabilitates rhinos, cheetah and a few other random animals. We got to see Sable, finally, even if it was a cheat.

On our way up to Shingwedzi we saw a massive buffalo herd. At the back was a baby with a fresh wound. We were told that 3 hyena had just taken it down and ripped off the tail, but other buffalo circled around to save it. We just missed it.

Our morning started with a young Black-backed Jackal running up the road ahead of us. It just kept going and going, until it finally moved off into the grass. It only stopped once to have a look at some Guineafowl, but couldn’t be bothered.
