A bright yellow coloured Evening Grosbeak, with black wings that have white flashes, is perched in bare tree branches
Last year’s Evening Grosbeak - looking sharp.
No luck with it this year for our 350 Bird Challenge. Playing hard to get.
We’ll be heading through Quebec this fall. Maybe we will see it? Maybe Ontario’s winter will deliver? ❄️

Bit of local birding excitement this morning. A Franklin's Gull... Way out of its range. Not the greatest picture, but happy to see it anyway

After a rather quiet early April, conditions will begin to become more favourable this week for migration in Ontario! Things start off tonight/tomorrow, with high temperatures and long distance southerly winds with limited rain in the way. Expect lots of new arrivals!

A long awaited return to Long Point Bird Observatory has not disappointed. It’s almost like I never left 6 years ago, though the habitat restoration has been amazing. Could do with the temp raising a little however 🥶

A pair of overwintering Wood Ducks near Grismby on the weekend. Not a bit I see very over in Ontario during the winter months!

Just seen a friend post this on FB...how cool. We know and used to visit Amherst Island *often* each winter.
