Colton’s songs are very popular in the filk community, but he has never self-identified as a filker. He performed one filk concert at Confluence, just before he got insanely popular, where #OoklatheMok was fortunate enough to serve as his backing band for “The Mandelbrot Set.”

OTD in 2019, the fourth issue of @seananmcguire.bsky.social and @takmiyazawa.bsky.social 's #Spider-Gwen: #GhostSpider was released. I was happily surprised that a line from my band #OoklatheMok 's song "Super Powers" was used as the title of this issue ("Like Stars from the Sky").

This was recorded in November 1998 at Windycon in Chicago, the last con show before drummer/singer Luis Garcia moved to the West Coast. A few years back, my band #OoklatheMok wrote a short song about #Mr.Mxyzptlk, which we released (along with Bizarro World) with the recommendation that the listener "possess a Mark Waid-level familiarity with Superman's rogues gallery."

I was lucky enough to briefly share a stage with @jonathancoulton.bsky.social in Pittsburgh in 2007. My band #OoklatheMok brought JoCo to the stage during our concert and were his backing band (without rehearsal!) for "The Mandelbrot Set." Great fun (for Ookla at least)!
