As it starts to get cooler the grass stops growing. This would normally conclude a grazing season for us, but this year we have a bit of “stockpiled” grass. The goats are still out on pasture enjoying things while they can.

Lots of new piglets this past week. Two of our sows gave birth out on pasture. Sometimes they choose to use the shelters given to them and sometimes they make their own nests. This time both made their own nests.

This pig is over her head in “pigweed” also know as amaranth. Most think this is a weed and want to eliminate it from their farms but it is a very high source of protein and all our animals love it.
