Day 20 of the #OrnamentChallenge - I still remember the day my new husband in my old age and I were in a store at which I no longer shop and he said we needed this for our tree. It's one of the gazillion reasons I love him. He's such a sentimental guy.

Day 17 of the #OrnamentChallenge - I got those ceramic Woodstock from my college roommate at the University of Illinois in 1979. I can’t believe it’s survived this long. Our friendship didn’t survive the first semester.
Day 16 of the #OrnamentChallenge. My dad spent most of his retirement before his wife (not my mom) died and he got fronto-temporal dementia. Lots of the ornaments on my trees are ones he picked up on trips, this one from Hawaii. We rarely talked, but I guess he was thinking about me.
Day 15 of the #OrnamentChallenge - one of my favorite ornaments is this beautiful beaded star handcrafted by my husband’s late wife - a woman I never met, but admire in so many ways.
Day 13 of the #OrnamentChallenge - this one is from my dad, who loved gold as much as does the stupid asshole he worshipped.
Day 12 of the #OrnamentChallenge - in 1998, after a horrible divorce and a year of being the poorest I've ever been, I was able to purchase my own house - by myself. It was one of the biggest victories in my life, and this ornament that someone gave me that year is a reminder of that.
Nineteen stockings hanging from hooks from a mantle over a fireplace.The stockings are labled by name. All will be full on Christmas morning except for mine, which is invariably empty, since I'm the one that fills all the other ones.
Day 11 of the #OrnamentChallenge - something a little different today. Not ornaments, but stockings. We're running out of room over here. There are 19 stockings up and we're going to have to add 4 more due to new additions to the family. There are worse problems to have. 🎄

Day 10 of the #OrnamentChallenge - back in the day, I started collecting Hallmark ornaments because like Longaberger baskets, they'd be worth a fortune some day. This is still one of my favorites although I can buy him on eBay for less than I paid for him in 1991.

Day 8 of the #OrnamentChallenge After 40 years of teaching music, I've accumulated quite a few music themed ornaments (more on the way) but this is one of my favorites. Santa playing a baroque viola. Not sure the designer knew that, but there ya go.

My niece Jaimie loved penguins. She passed away in 2010 at age 22 because of pulmonary hypertension. This is my way to remember her. I love her so much and miss her every day.

Day 6 of the #OrnamentChallenge Reply or quote with your own decoration and story! This is a 2007 Hallmark ornament. I can't remember who gave it to me, but I love how it clips on to a light so the campfire lights up. Kind of sad that over the years all of Woodstock's friends have been decapitated.

This beautiful star was made by the Lithuanian mom of one of my violin students out of PLASTIC DRINKING STRAWS! Can you even believe it??? Look at the detail!
Day 2 of #OrnamentChallenge. This is my glass Squirrel in Underwear that my kids gave me years ago. He came from the fantastic novelty store in Seattle: Archie McPhee. I think you can still get one. He still makes me laugh every year when I hang him on the tree.
