Winter means Dark-eyed Juncos, and as you know I love them. They have a lot more personality than can be seen from afar and are quite feisty. Usually the slate grey and white ones are dominant but this year 1/2 #birds #birdwatching #Ostdrossel

A Blue Jay found a nice morsel. You can see that it had several already, as the throat pouch looks full.
Two Juncos are fighting for dominance, one hovering over the other.
A Redbellied Woodpecker checks out the full bowl. His colors pop in the winter sun and against the snow in the back.
A female Brownheaded Cowbird looks a bit disappointed at the empty bowl. Her feathers are dense and look velvety soft. The sun is shining and there is snow on the ground.

I keep my nestboxes up year-round because sometimes Downy Woodpeckers will use them to roost in the winter. Bluebirds and Chickadees will also do quick little checks to see if digs are available, and exactly that happened here. #birds #birdwatching #Ostdrossel

I like to move cams around, exploring my yard on the search for fun scenes. This is a new spot, just at the base of a large tree. It was fun seeing how the Nuthatches were hiding kernels in the bark. Of course there is also squirrel footage. #birds #ostdrossel
