Work in progress image of the bust 'Liliantine' by Arnau Miniatures. It features blue-purple hair, light skin, white hairbands and choker with a green-blue-magenta gemstone pendant as well as blue sleeves and very bright, reflective armor, however some of these, especially the armor, are only sketched, still. ___ Talking new additions, I decided in favor of a white satin-y fabric for the choker and headbands, because I feel like it should act as a nice bridge to the armor, which I intend to keep as shiny and bright as it's currently still sketched on. I also went with a multi-colored gem/pendant, which has become a secondary focus point to the face, where I used the coloration to combine most of the entire color palette of the rest of the piece in one spot. Lastly I have now sketched in the sleeves with belt and belt-buckle, for which I went with an unexpected blue/purple scheme, to mirror the hair color and create another connection through color. Aside from these more obvious new additions, I've also finally reached a point with this update, where I'm genuinely happy with the face and skin. I even found the courage to touch up the eyes - specifically, painting a clean, white line under both irises where before I had just a bit too much black left, which made it look slightly uncanny to my own eyes. I also tidied up the white inner eyeliner to make it look sharp and clean, added a new highlight spot on the upper lip of the glossy black lipstick and touched up the beauty spots on cheek and chest.

I'm seeing these three color triangles - skin, armor and now the blue triangle, created by the hair and sleeves, as a nest of color that works to center our focus firmly on the face, necklace and chest.

I've added a few more important details and FINALLY reached a point where I'm fully happy wit hthe skin and face.

a collage of 4 images, split along the vertical middle axis into two pairs of "old vs new" WIP states - one pair depicting the face, one the chest area. This is supposed to allow for a precise comparison of all the subtle changes I painted yesterday on the elf bust. The figure is called 'Liliantine' and sold by Arnau Miniatures.

I really just wanted to see how far I can take the smoothness and perfection of hue shifts between light and shadow, with the inclusion of a pink blush near the eyes.

New update!

This time I worked on the ears, the inside of one of the pauldrons, plus its rim, and, most noticably, the chest.

Based on the sculpt and armor shape, I felt like shading it very 'pushed up'.

This is a work in progress image of my watercolour painting. It shows a young woman head and shoulders with two birds, one is on her shoulder, and the other is inflate near the other side of her head. She has a giggling expression on her face, the bird that is in flight is pulling a worm out of her ear, whilst the other bird perched on her shoulder is singing a musical note into her other ear. Because this is a working progress, it is not finished. The background is green, and the face only has a few layers of skin tones painted in.

Part 5. Skin undercoats 🎨 everything deepens from here. I glazed a little green bounce light to help integrate the figure into the background 😊.

A close-up on the face of the bust called 'Liliantine', by Arnau Miniatures. Most of the image shows a WIP shot from last week, except for a sharp triangle shape crossing over the face vertically, which shows the newest refined WIP state of the improved expression, skin and make-up painted yesterday. In essence this is a "before vs after" shot.

A slightly top-down, mostly side view of the bust, showing a nice angle of the face wit hthe focus being on its left cheek and eye.

This image shows the dark side of 'Liliantine's face, so the elf is looking away from the camera, showing in particular, the shadows painted on nose and right cheek, but also the right eye and its painted make-up.

First refinement session was all about the face, the make-up and a little bit on the hair.

Finding the right skin tones and depths of shading for the facial features probably took the most time and effort due to their effect on the expression.
